Tuan Guru Mosque
Masjid Tuan Guru is a newly expanded mosque in the Malay settlement in Tanjung Tokong. It is located along the old Tanjung Tokong Road, directly opposite Heong Sun See Temple.
Masjid Tuan Guru is said to have been inspired by the influential 19th century religious teacher, Abdul Ghani, who hailed from Madura. In Penang, two mosques were connected to him, Masjid Tuan Guru in Tanjong Tokong, and Masjid Maqbul in Jelutong.
Getting there
The nearest bus stop is along the Tanjung Tokong main road. Rapid Penang Buses that pass through Tanjong Tokong Road includes 101, 103, and U104.
What to see
Admire the intricate Islamic-inspired motif of the mosque. Considering it is entirely new, Masjid Tuan Guru does not have any notesworthy heritage structures.
