Pakistani Mosque
Masjid Pakistan is a mosque serving the Pakistani community in George Town. It is located at the junction of Macalister Road and Kek Chuan Road.
Masjid Pakistan was built in the International style. It came about following an influx of North Indian Muslims into George Town after the Second World War. This was caused by political upheaval when India and Pakistan went into civil war. Some of these Northern Indians who were Muslims sought refuge in Malaya rather than going north to Pakistan.
Today, the number of Pakistani Muslims in Penang has dwindled. The remaining ones have assimilated themselves into the greater Indian Muslim and Malay communities.
