Masjid Lama Tanjong Huma is a small Malay mosque in Batu Ferringhi. The mosque, which started as a surau (prayer hall), serves the Muslim community of Kampung Tanjong Huma, a Malay fishing village that used to be located in the area where Rasa Sayang Resort is located today. The mosque itself is in front of Golden Sands Resort, right across from the junction of Jalan Sungai Emas.
It is often hard to remember that Batu Ferringhi was once pockets of Malay fishing villages, before beach development started to encroach on the area, changing its characteristic forever. Masjid Lama Tanjong Huma is a remnant of the earlier days where the pace of life is less hurried. Well, the villagers probably still long for the unhurried pace, but it would be now a challenge to keep still when everything else is moving around you. Masjid Lama Tanjong Huma seems to have been completely engulfed by the beach resort right behind it.
