Kampung Rawa Jamek Mosque
Masjid Jamek Kampung Rawa is an old Malay mosque in the village of Kampung Rawa. The mosque has been around since the early settlement of Kampung Rawa, which was originally a community founded by Sumatrans who arrived to settle along the banks of Sungai Pinang. The mosque has undergone renovation and expansion over the centuries.
Masjid Jamek Kampung Rawa was at the heart of the Kampung Rawa incident which took place in March 1998, when Muslim worshippers marched from the mosque to confront Hindus of the Sri Raja Raja Madurai Veeran shrine, resulting in a scuffle. The incident was settled through the intervention of the then Deputy Prime Minister Dato Seri Anwar Ibrahim.
