Masjid Jamek Jelutong is an old mosque along the Jelutong Main Road, at the junction with Jalan Masjid, near the junction with Perak Road. The area where Masjid Jamek Jelutong is located was the Jelutong Malay Kampung. The village comprises parallel lanes linked to the Jelutong Main Road, among them Jalan Tengku, Jalan Kota Giam, Jalan Mat Taib, Jalan Pokok Asam, Jalan Tengah and Jalan Mat Taib.

In the past decade, the land surrounding Masjid Jamek Jelutong has seen rapid redevelopment. A site has been earmarked for the rebuilding of Masjid Jamek Jelutong. It is adjacent to the old mosque.
