Kenny Khong, Nunchucks Expert

Master Kenny Khong Jia Hin is a martial artist specializing in nunchucks, the traditional Okinawan weapon comprising two sticks linked with a short chain. Also called nunchaku in Japanese, this weapon became popular among Chinese moviegoers largely due to Bruce Lee. Master Kenny however created his own artform without deriving from those Bruce Lee movies.

Although nunchucks can be made of metal, fibreglass and even plastic, the traditional nunchucks are made of wood, particularly solid oak wood. Master Kenny makes his own nunchucks of steel and brass.

Master Kenny is presently ranked No. 1 in Malaysia on YouTube for nunchucks. He is featured in the following videos, where he showcases his martial arts skill blended with phenomenal nunchucks strikes: A businessman, Master Kenny has started giving nunchucks classes at some colleges as well as private lessons to nunchucks enthusiasts, who are blackbelt holders in their respective field of martial arts. Every now and then he is invited to give a live performance to demonstrate this artform to the general public. Through the use of YouTube, he is popularizing this form of martial arts, which is receiving tremendous attention in the United States. He is thankful to the United States for the attention it has given to him, and hopes to one day honour them with a performance.there

In addition to nunchucks, Master Kenny is also attempting to set a Malaysia record for another incredible feat, which he will reveal in due course.

An Encounter with Master Kenny

On 5 July, 2013, I was privileged to be given a demonstration by Master Kenny of his skills. I was quite impressed and a bit daunted by the nunchucks - it's the first time I ever saw it outside movies.

Master Kenny demonstrated to me its usage. Though I set my camera to catch many frames per second, his action was lightning speed, so fast that often he had to do it a few times as I fail to catch the precise moment.
