Kek Seng, Penang
Kek Seng is a coffee shop along Penang Road. It was one of the most famous coffee shops in Penang during the 1970s, when Penang Road was the main shopping street on the island. Kek Seng was particularly famous for its home-made durian ice cream and ice kacang. These used to command premium prices in its heydays.
According to the Kek Seng signboard, the coffee shop dates back to 1906. Today it has seen better days. Among the hawker dishes available here include Jawa Mee, Chicken Rice, Loh Bak, and Laksa, to name a few.
