About Huat Huah Liam Temple

Huat Huah Liam Temple is a temple in Hye Keat Estate, Air Itam, dedicated to the Kuan Yin, the goddess of mercy. I discovered it when I noticed a pagoda as I was driving along Jalan Air Itam towards the Air Itam town. So I decided to check it out.

Huat Huah Liam Temple is a small nunnery - I only met with Buddhist nuns there. It has an entrance arch with its name inscribed over it. Beside the temple is the pagoda, which is actually a columbarium. Inside Huat Huah Liam Temple is an altar to Kuan Yin. In the compound is a joss incinerator and potted lotus plants. The temple isn't geared for tourists, though the nuns receive me and my wife graciously. The gate was shut and was only opened after we called out and asked for permission to enter. I found the name Huat Huah Liam Temple on the noticeboard of the temple.
