Good Friend Seafood Restaurant, or Hao Eu (好友海鲜), (see map) is a seaside restaurant in Teluk Kumbar. Good Friend is famous for its inexpensive seafood, and draws crowds of patrons, especially during the weekends. It is one of my favourite seafood restaurants in Penang. Its proximity to the residential places in Bayan Baru, Bayan Lepas as well as the new housing estates in Batu Maung, Sungai Batu and Teluk Kumbar provides it a good catchment of regular customers.

Located at the beach of Teluk Kumbar, Good Friend Seafood has a nice view, especially in the evening, when the sun is setting. The restaurant is nothing pretty, just a collection of sheds and tables arranged on the beach.

Also available at Good Friend Seafood is Batu Maung Satay, so named because it was introduced to the public in Batu Maung, at another now defunct seafood restaurant. The satay is different from regular satay in that it does not come with a dip - the sauce has been added to the meat when served.

Getting there

Good Friend Seafood is best reached by car. However, if you have to depend on public transport, you should take Rapid Penang Bus No. 401 from George Town, and alight at the bus stop in Teluk Kumbar.
