Esplanade Road, George Town

Jalan Padang Kota Lama Esplanade Road, which today is called Jalan Padang Kota Lama, is the road connecting Jalan Tun Syed Sheh Barakbah and Light Street. On one side is the open filed, Padang Kota Lama, and on the other side are two stately civic buildings, Town Hall and City Hall. Jalan Padang Kota Lama was built around the same time as the Town Hall. When the building was completed, the road was just a dirt path. It should not be confused with The Esplanade, which today is known as Jalan Tun Syed Sheh Barakbah. Getting there Take Rapid Penang Free Shuttle Bus, get down at Station No. 5 (Bank Negara). Jalan Padang Kota Lama is across Light Street from the Bank Negara Malaysia building.
