Eng Tai Association Eng Tai Hoay Kuan, Lorong Toh Aka, George Town
Eng Tai Association, or Eng Tai Hoay Kuan, is a rather obscure clan association tucked away in Toh Aka Lane, one of the narrowest lanes of George Town. Indeed, even in the narrowest of alleyways there is something special to discover, if one cares to explore. And Eng Tai Hoay Kuan is one such gem. Located on the left side of Toh Aka Lane as you enter from Lebuh Pantai, the Penang Eng Tai Hoay Kuan is a clan association for two Hakka dialect groups, those from the Eng Teng and the Tai Pu districts. The association was founded in 1840.
Toh Aka Lane connects to the back lane of the Acheen Street Mosqueon one side while another connects to Malay Street. Here are a row of shophouses belonging to members of the Cheah Kongsi.
