Conjunctions

Conjunctions are words used to connect two (or more) different word, phrases, clauses and ideas. Here are some of the conjunctions in Penang Hokkien that you should learn.
Kah1: and, with
Wah kah ie si hoh peng3-yew4: He and I (lit. I and he) are good friends.
Ie chiak p'ui3 kah hamik?: He ate rice and what?
Ie chiak p'ui kah chye.: He ate rice and vegetables.
Ie chiak p'ui kah chooi-chooi?: He ate rice with whom?
Ie chiak p'ui kah ie-eh pengyew.: He ate rice with his friend.
A3si3: if
Asi ie lai, tolong keo wah.: If he comes, please call me.
Asi ie-lang yau1, ie-lang eh-sai chiak thau3-seng1: If they are hungry, they can eat first.
Eng3goay3: because
Hamik-su lu boh3 lai?: Why you didn't come?
Wah boh3 lai eng-goay wah por1-tor4 thnia3.: I didn't come because I had stomach ache.
