Jalan Cantonment

Cantonment Road, or Jalan Cantonment, is a road in the Pulau Tikus district of George Town. It began at Macalister Road and ends at Gurney Drive. Cantonment Road intersects with two major roads running out of George Town, Burmah Road and Kelawei Road. It is named after the army cantonment that used to be located there.

The Penang Malay Association or Persatuan Melayu Pulau Pinang (acronym Pemenang), an organisation founded in 1927, bought a building along the stretch of Cantonment Road between Kelawai Road and Gurney Drive (often called Cantonment Road Ghaut, as it is an extension of the original Cantonment Road) at RM600,000. Later, they sought for the road to be named Jalan Pemenang, after the association.
