The Changi Airport MRT Station (GPS: 1.35674, 103.98857; CG2) is the terminus of an extended fork of the East-West Line. It opened on 8 February, 2002 to serve Changi Airport, and is located between Terminal 2 and 3.
The distance between Changi Airport and downtown Singapore is just 20 km. For that reason, the airport operated for 21 years without a rail link, as the bus and taxi connections prove sufficient to serve the needs of arriving passengers. The MRT rail line was only extended to Changi Airport when the Singapore Expo was built near the airport, resulting in a potential increase in commuter traffic.
The Changi Airport MRT Station is located at the end of a branch of the East-West Line, which forks at the Tanah Merah MRT Station. Coming from the airport, if you wish to go to places such as Tampines or Pasir Ris, you need to change trains at the Tanah Merah station.

Hello and thanks for reading this page. My name is Timothy and my hobby is in describing places so that I can share the information with the general public. My website has become the go to site for a lot of people including students, teachers, journalists, etc. whenever they seek information on places, particularly those in Malaysia and Singapore. I have been doing this since 5 January 2003, for over twenty years already. You can read about me at Discover Timothy. By now I have compiled information on thousands of places, mostly in Peninsular Malaysia and Singapore, and I continue to add more almost every day. My goal is to describe every street in every town in Malaysia and Singapore.
