Templer Park (Taman Rimba Templer)

Templer ParkTempler Park (10 September, 2016)

Templer Park (GPS: 3.2862, 101.64207), also called Taman Rimba Templer, is a forest park in Rawang, Selangor. It is located next to Hutan Lipur Kanching, and is part of the Templer Forest Reserve which in turn is part of the Selangor State Heritage Park.

Templer Park has picnic facilities, such as tables and benches for recreational activities. Having heard of Templer Park since small but have never visited it, I decided to make a trip there. To be honest, it was a bit of a let down. As with many of the forest parks in the country, it was run down. This country does not have a reputation of maintaining its forest parks, and it's no different right here, at Templer Park. I remember visiting the toilet, and saw that the roof has caved in (see photograph). This poor state of affair is such an embarrassment, though having experience forest park toilets without running water, broken faucets, and even locked, I can't tell whether the local authorities consider non-functioning toilets to be an embarrassment or a way of life.

On the bright side, I can say that although the facilities were broken down, the park itself was quite clear. We do not see much trash lying around (I can't say the same for a lot of other forest parks in the country that I have visited).

Having said that, I saw that the stream running through the park was at least still crystal clear. We arrived during the late morning, when there was very hot and there was hardly anybody in the area. We had wanted to have a picnic here (to ensure we brought no non-halal food into the park, we bought nasi kandar), but upon unwrapping our food, we were immediately molested by mosquitoes and flies, so much so that we hurriedly picked up everything and ate in the car!

About this website

Hello and thanks for reading this page. My name is Timothy and my hobby is in describing places so that I can share the information with the general public. My website has become the go to site for a lot of people including students, teachers, journalists, etc. whenever they seek information on places, particularly those in Malaysia and Singapore. I have been doing this since 5 January 2003, for over twenty years already. You can read about me at Discover Timothy. By now I have compiled information on thousands of places, mostly in Peninsular Malaysia and Singapore, and I continue to add more almost every day. My goal is to describe every street in every town in Malaysia and Singapore.
