Sabak Bernam (GPS: 3.67576, 100.98998) is a town within a district of the same name, on the northwestern part of Selangor. This largely flat expanse which covers an area of 1,056 square kilometers comprises the parliamentary seats of Sabak Bernam and Sungai Besar, and the tour state seats of Sungai Air Tawar, Sabak, Sungai Panjang and Sekinchan. Sungai Besar is the main township in Sabak Bernam. It is the location for the Sabak Bernam District Council.

Sabak Bernam is Selangor's chief rice producing area. it is hemmed in on one side by the Straits of Malacca, and on the other by the state of Perak. The district is sparsely populated if compared with other parts of Selangor, with a total population of just over 100,000 people.

Getting there

To go to Sabak Bernam usually takes many hours of driving through country roads. Perhaps the most straightforward way to reach it from Kuala Lumpur is via Kuala Selangor. Read page on Kuala Selangor for details of going there, then proceed on Route 5 heading northwest to reach Sabak Bernam.
