Morib Beach, SelangorPromenade at Morib Beach, Selangor (6 July, 2016)

Morib Beach (GPS: 2.74853, 101.44325) is a popular seaside area in Selangor. It is located near Simpang Morib, about 12 km south of Banting. The locals come here for picnicking under the casuarina trees. There is a park by the beach with a memorial to the landing of the British and Indian Liberation Army on 9 September 1945.

Over the decades, the beachfront at Morib Beach has been developed for beach recreation. The promenade is clean and well paved. A prominent feature of the promenade is the sculpture of seagulls - I noticed one of them has dropped off.

The sea at Morib Beach is very shallow, so it is possible to wade into the sea for quite a distance, particularly during low tide. When I was at Morib Beach, I saw a large number of people walking in the sea. The fact that they are unafraid of the tide coming in tells me that they probably have a good idea the depth of the sea at Morib. It was a hot day when I visited, so the ice cream hawkers were doing good business.

Elsewhere, we saw a Seashell Square, where there are interpretive boards explaining various types of seashells. On the day of our visit, Morib Beach was quite crowded, with different people doing their own thing. The toilets are well maintain here. They are housed is two adjacent buildings flanking the walkway (which by the way, is called Persiaran Jugra). Yes, you have to pay to use the facilities, but they have bathrooms with showers for swimmers to clean up.

How to go to Morib Beach

To go to Morib Beach from Kuala Lumpur, you head first to Putrajaya. For example, you can take the Kuala Lumpur-Putrajaya Expressway E20 right to the end, then continue on the Putrajaya Ring Road E6 heading west. That takes you to the ELITE Highway E6, which takes you to the SKVE E26. Exit the SKVE to Telok Panglima Garang. Continue on local roads to reach Morib Beach. Refer to the map below.

About this website

Hello and thanks for reading this page. My name is Timothy and my hobby is in describing places so that I can share the information with the general public. My website has become the go to site for a lot of people including students, teachers, journalists, etc. whenever they seek information on places, particularly those in Malaysia and Singapore. I have been doing this since 5 January 2003, for over twenty years already. You can read about me at Discover Timothy. By now I have compiled information on thousands of places, mostly in Peninsular Malaysia and Singapore, and I continue to add more almost every day. My goal is to describe every street in every town in Malaysia and Singapore.
