Mohd Akib's Grave at Kota Raja Mahdi (7 July, 2016)


Mohd Akib's Grave (GPS: 3.0452, 101.44494) is a grave within Kota Raja Mahdi in Klang, Selangor. It is the grave of the leader of the Batu Bahra clan, who was aligned with Raja Mahdi in the civil war with Raja Abdullah. During the battle, Raja Mahdi and the Batu Bahra group has mounted a defence at Kota Raja Mahdi, while Raja Abdullah and his Bugis fighters fortified themselves at the site of the present-day Klang Police Station (and location of his warehouse, Gedung Raja Abdullah).

Mohd Akib was killed in battle. This happened when the Bugis stormed Kota Raja Mahdi. Mohd Akib had charged towards the Bugis men. As he did so, one of the Bugis warriors, Wak Sigalah, had fired a single gunshot at Mohd Akib, hitting in on the shoulder, and killing him instantly. Found next to his corpse was a sword, a shield and a dagger, or keris.

After the fighting was over, Mohd Akib was buried in the grounds of the fort, and Raja Mahdi appointed Encik Nonggok, a relative of Mohd Akib, to replace him. Raja Mahdi made Encik Jumaat of the Perbaongan settlement the war imam, Encik Salleh was made the Panglima Perang Kiri and Encik Teba the Panglima Perang Kanan. Encik Salleh was later also killed during an ensuing fight, when he was shot by the Bugis while refilling the cannon.
