Morib Beach World War II Monument (6 July, 2016)


Morib Beach World War II Monument (GPS: 2.74853, 101.44325) is a monument at Pantai Morib, in Banting, Selangor. It commemorates the landing of the British and Indian Army liberation forces on the beach on 9 September, 1945. It was a huge contingent comprising 42,651 troops, 3,968 vehicles and 11,224 tons of stores. It is believed that among the Indian soldiers in the landing party includes the future president of Pakistan, Muhammad Zia-ul-Huq, who was then a British Indian Army officer.

Today the Morib Beach World War II Monument is the centrepiece of the roundabout, at the end of the road (called Persiaran Mestika). All around the monument, a promenade has been built, along with hawker centre for various beach activities.
