Sama Jaya Nature Reserve is a nature reserve in the Kuching Division of Sarawak. It was formerly known as Stutung Protected Forest. Sama Jaya is located within the suburb of Tabuan Jaya within Kuching itself. It comprises mostly kerangas (or heath) forest.

Sama Jaya Nature Reserve is one of the oldest protected forests in Sarawak. It was first constituted as a protected forest back in 1950. It was designed to be an urban wilderness, with facilities for people to enjoy a natural forest environment. It was the first reserves used to encourage outdoor recreation and teach nature conservation.

Today there is a Timber Products & Bamboo Museum within the reserve. It showcases the different types of wood available in Sarawak. The Forest Biology Museum provides an educational showcase of the different types of insects, mushrooms and other living creatures of the rainforest. At the Sarawak Heritage Garden are planted different types of plants that can be used by landscape designers. There is also an Ethno-Botanical Garden where visitors can learn about the different plants and medicinal herbs. Finally, for those who come to exercise, there is a Reflexology Park.

About this website

Hello and thanks for reading this page. My name is Timothy and my hobby is in describing places so that I can share the information with the general public. My website has become the go to site for a lot of people including students, teachers, journalists, etc. whenever they seek information on places, particularly those in Malaysia and Singapore. I have been doing this since 5 January 2003, for over twenty years already. You can read about me at Discover Timothy. By now I have compiled information on thousands of places, mostly in Peninsular Malaysia and Singapore, and I continue to add more almost every day. My goal is to describe every street in every town in Malaysia and Singapore.
