Limbang (GPS: 4.75503, 115.00814) is a town in Sarawak. It is the capital of the 3978 sq km Limbang District in the Limbang Division.

Limbang was originally part of Brunei, but was annexed by Charles Brooke, the 2nd Rajah of Sarawak in 1890 despite strong protest from Brunei. It is located surrounded by Brunei on both the east and the west. Going west, the road reaches the checkpoint at Tedungan, while going east, the road reaches the checkpoint at Pandaruan. Both checkpoints are on the border with Brunei.

The involuntary cession of Limbang to Sarawak split Brunei into two parts, with Brunei-Muara, Tutong and Kuala Belait to the west of Limbang, and Temburong district to the east.

Visitors to Limbang are usually those on transit to get somewhere else. This is the terminus of the Headhunter's Trail, so trekkers from Gunung Mulu National Park arrive here at the end of their trek.

About this website

Hello and thanks for reading this page. My name is Timothy and my hobby is in describing places so that I can share the information with the general public. My website has become the go to site for a lot of people including students, teachers, journalists, etc. whenever they seek information on places, particularly those in Malaysia and Singapore. I have been doing this since 5 January 2003, for over twenty years already. You can read about me at Discover Timothy. By now I have compiled information on thousands of places, mostly in Peninsular Malaysia and Singapore, and I continue to add more almost every day. My goal is to describe every street in every town in Malaysia and Singapore.
