Santubong is a peninsula about 32 km north of Kuching. It is located beside the mouth of the Santubong River. The place has a nice bay that curves below the jagged Gunung Santubong. Santubong is a place that residents as well as visitors to Kuching go for good seafood. The fishing villages of Santubong on the west coast and Kampung Buntal on the east coast of the Santubong Peninsula have a few seafood restaurants, some perched on stilts over the water of the Santubong River. If you are extremely lucky, you may even sight Irrawaddy Dolphins in the river.

Perhaps the most famous sight at Santubong is the Sarawak Cultural Village. However, there is more to Santubong, and I am listing its sights on this page for you to explore.

Getting there

To reach Santubong and Kampung Buntal, you can take the Petra Jaya Bus No. 2D from Kuching. Fare is RM1.50. The same trip by taxi costs about RM20-RM25.

About this website

Hello and thanks for reading this page. My name is Timothy and my hobby is in describing places so that I can share the information with the general public. My website has become the go to site for a lot of people including students, teachers, journalists, etc. whenever they seek information on places, particularly those in Malaysia and Singapore. I have been doing this since 5 January 2003, for over twenty years already. You can read about me at Discover Timothy. By now I have compiled information on thousands of places, mostly in Peninsular Malaysia and Singapore, and I continue to add more almost every day. My goal is to describe every street in every town in Malaysia and Singapore.
