Sungai Batu Pahat Snake & Reptile Farm (GPS: 6.50921, 100.17379) is a tourist attraction in Perlis. It is located 12km north of Kangar on Route R11. The farm holds about 200 snakes from 23 different species. The farm is run by the Institute of Medical Research. Many of the snakes are venomous, as the purpose of the farm is in support of antivenom serum research and development.

In addition to snakes, the farm also houses crocodiles, iguanas and other reptiles. Some of the reptiles are kept in open-air enclosures while others are behind glass. I explored the farm with my girlfriend Chooi Yoke, while documenting the sites in Perlis for AsiaExplorers. I have read some comments on the web criticising the farm as being dirty, the animals were not properly treated, and the enclosures were too small. I personally do not consider the farm to be too interesting, but have nothing too critical to add. I would encourage you to pay it a visit and then give me your comments.

The Snake & Reptile Farm is open from 9:00am to 5:00pm Saturdays through Thursdays, while on Friday between 9:00am to 6:00pm with a break from 12:15pm to 2:45pm. Entrance fee is RM3.00.

From Kangar Town, take either Route R5 or R8. Both these routes will link to Route 11. From Route 11, be on a look out for the road sign pointing to the snake farm.

About this website

Hello and thanks for reading this page. My name is Timothy and my hobby is in describing places so that I can share the information with the general public. My website has become the go to site for a lot of people including students, teachers, journalists, etc. whenever they seek information on places, particularly those in Malaysia and Singapore. I have been doing this since 5 January 2003, for over twenty years already. You can read about me at Discover Timothy. By now I have compiled information on thousands of places, mostly in Peninsular Malaysia and Singapore, and I continue to add more almost every day. My goal is to describe every street in every town in Malaysia and Singapore.
