Taiping Railway Station

Taiping Railway StationTaiping Railway Station (31 August, 2015)

Taiping Railway Station (GPS: 4.85207, 100.73123) is the oldest railway station in the country. The station was originally built in 1882, for the railway line between Taiping and Port Weld, in present-day Kuala Sepetang. The station was rebuilt the first time in early 1900s, to accommodate the train services between Taiping and Prai (eventually extended to Butterworth), and then between Taiping and Kuala Lumpur.

In 2013, the Taiping Railway Station was rebuilt a second time, to prepare it for the introduction of the Electric Train Service from Kuala Lumpur. The ETS service began on 11 July, 2015. The Taiping Railway Station is between the Padang Rengas Railway Station and Parit Buntar Railway Station.

About this website

Hello and thanks for reading this page. My name is Timothy and my hobby is in describing places so that I can share the information with the general public. My website has become the go to site for a lot of people including students, teachers, journalists, etc. whenever they seek information on places, particularly those in Malaysia and Singapore. I have been doing this since 5 January 2003, for over twenty years already. You can read about me at Discover Timothy. By now I have compiled information on thousands of places, mostly in Peninsular Malaysia and Singapore, and I continue to add more almost every day. My goal is to describe every street in every town in Malaysia and Singapore.
