Taman Negara National Park, commonly known simply as Taman Negara, is the oldest national park in Malaysia. Originally named King George V National Park, it was renamed Taman Negara after Malaysia gained independence. Covering 4,343 square kilometers, it is far and away the largest national park in Peninsula Malaysia. Much of Taman Negara is located in Pahang, though it also covers large areas of Kelantan and Terengganu. Each of these states have its own enactment to protect the forested area of the national park. Of these, Taman Negara in Pahang covers 2,477 square kilometers, or 57% of the total area of Taman Negara. Taman Negara in Kelantan covers 1,043 square kilometers while Taman Negara in Terengganu covers 853 square kilometers.

Taman Negara is home to Gunung Tahan, the highest peak in Peninsular Malaysia. The mountain is part of Banjaran Tahan in Pahang.

About this website

Hello and thanks for reading this page. My name is Timothy and my hobby is in describing places so that I can share the information with the general public. My website has become the go to site for a lot of people including students, teachers, journalists, etc. whenever they seek information on places, particularly those in Malaysia and Singapore. I have been doing this since 5 January 2003, for over twenty years already. You can read about me at Discover Timothy. By now I have compiled information on thousands of places, mostly in Peninsular Malaysia and Singapore, and I continue to add more almost every day. My goal is to describe every street in every town in Malaysia and Singapore.
