#tanahairku Street Art is a series of murals sponsored by Petronas in Kuala Lumpur. The project was carried out in conjunction with Malaysia's Merdeka Day celebrations and Malaysia Day celebrations on 31 August and 16 September, 2015, respectively. With the involvement of DNAComm and District Shop Gallery, Petronas pooled together 14 local artists to create six murals to adorn different parts of Kuala Lumpur.

Three cities were selected for this project. In addition to Kuala Lumpur, murals were also painted in Johor Bahru and Kota Kinabalu.



Each mural artist was provided the text from a patriotic poem, and asked to create a mural based on his interpretation of the poem. The six murals are:

  1. Brave at Jalan Raja Chulan, opposite Muzium Telekom, by Anokayer and Yumz
  2. Makmur, Teguh, Luhur at Jalan Tan Siew Sin, by Phiberwryte Connection/PWC
  3. Smile at Jalan Sultan Ismail, by Escape and Perol (Street view not available)
  4. The Malaysian Model Heart Kit at Leboh Ampang car park, by Kangblabla and Reeze
  5. The Village and the City at Jalan Raja Chulan car park, by Kenji and Cloak
  6. We are all in the Same Boat at Jalan Yap Ah Shak car park, by The District Creative

One of these murals adorns the side of a disused shophouse along Jalan Raja Chulan at the foot of Bukit Nanas. I will add to this page when I come across the other murals.
