The Perpustakaan Kuala Lumpur, or Kuala Lumpur Library (GPS: 3.14755, 101.69267), was founded in 1989, and was originally known as the Kuala Lumpur Memorial Library (Pustaka Peringatan Kuala Lumpur). It was then housed in the former Government Printing Office building, until the present three-storey building was erected.
The present Perpustakaan Kuala Lumpur has a mini auditorium, a conference hall, a multi-purpose hall, training rooms, two exhibition galleries, Internet facilities, study material and digital reference material.
Getting there from the Masjid Jamek station involves a bit of walking. From the station, go northwest along Jalan Tun Perak until intersection with Jalan Tuanku Abdul Rahman. Turn left, follow Jalan Tuanku Abdul Rahman south until it merges with Jalan Raja. You will see Bangunan Sultan Abdul Samad on your left while Dataran Merdeka is on your right. At the next intersection, turn left, and you will arrive at the Kuala Lumpur City Gallery on your left.
