Jalan Alor (GPS: 3.146440, 101.709588) is a famous street food haven in Kuala Lumpur. It is the road running parallel to Jalan Bukit Bintang. The road is connected to Changkat Bukit Bintang on the northeastern end, and with Jalan Tong Shin on the southwestern. It is just about 280 meters in length. Jalan Alor is lined with hawker stalls for much of the day, but the place truly comes alive when night falls, when the after-work crowd descends upon it.

The first half of Jalan Alor has mostly Chinese restaurant of the "cooked to order" variety. That means, you select the dishes which are cooked according to your order, and these are taken with rice. The second half of Jalan Alor has a concentration of restaurants of Indo-Chinese cuisine, including Thai and Vietnamese.

Jalan Alor was named after the Malay word "alor", which means a small stream. Although you don't find such a feature along the road today, according to Mariana Isa in her book Kuala Lumpur Street Name, a stream was labelled on a map from 1921.

Many of the restaurants at Jalan Alor post signages displaying the food they offer. Few care to put a name to their stalls. In addition to street food, Jalan Alor is home to a number of cheap hotels.
