Gunung Stong State Park

Gunung Stong is a popular mountain for climbers in Malaysia. It is located within the Gunung Stong State Park (GPS: ), in Jajahan Kuala Krai in Kelantan. The mountain is 1422 meters tall, and is surrounded by other peaks such as Gunung Beirut, Gunung Baha, Gunung Koh, Gunung Saji, Gunung Tera, Gunung Che Tahir, and Gunung Ayam.

To visit Gunung Stong, most people take a train to Dabong. The mountain is situated within the Gunung Stong State Park, which covers an area of 21,950 hectates. The park is covered by dense forest formerly known as the Jelawang Jungle. Among the wildlife found within the park include gibbons, sun bears, Malayan tigers, and Asian elephants. The Rafflesia flower is often found here.

One of the highlights of Gunung Stong State Park is the Gunung Stong Waterfall. Also called Air Terjun Jelawang, this 7-tier fall has a total height of 305 meters (990 feet), making it one of the tallest in Southeast Asia.

Although Gunung Stong is the most popular mountain in the area, it is not the tallest. That honour goes to the 1504-meter Gunung Ayam, which can be reached through a 6-hour trek.
