Jalan Trus, Johor BahruJalan Trus, Johor Bahru (14 September, 2016)

Jalan Trus is one of the main roads in downtown Johor Bahru. It runs roughly parallel to Jalan Wong Ah Fook and Jalan Tun Abdul Razak, both of which much wider than it. In comparison, Jalan Trus has a more neighbourhood feel. It also forms intersections with Jalan Dhoby and Jalan Tan Hiok Nee; and a T-junction with Jalan Segget. One stretch of Jalan Trus is decidedly Chinese, around the Johor Bahru Old Chinese Temple, while the next section is Indian, and in between these, there stands Johor Bahru's Sikh Gurdwara.

The section of Jalan Trus between Jalan Ungku Puan and Jalan Ibrahim preserves the look and feel of the city before it boomed into a metropolis. Along this stretch, you can still find newsagents selling newspapers and candies by the roadside, coffee shops that spill onto the sidewalks, and shophouses can come right to the edge of the pavement. North of Jalan Ungku Puan, the road opens up, due to redevelopment that today gives us the Galleria @ Kotaraya and The Puteri Pacific Hotel.

Jalan Trus is home to a number of street art murals sponsor by Petronas in 2015. These are called the #tanahairku Street Art.

About this website

Hello and thanks for reading this page. My name is Timothy and my hobby is in describing places so that I can share the information with the general public. My website has become the go to site for a lot of people including students, teachers, journalists, etc. whenever they seek information on places, particularly those in Malaysia and Singapore. I have been doing this since 5 January 2003, for over twenty years already. You can read about me at Discover Timothy. By now I have compiled information on thousands of places, mostly in Peninsular Malaysia and Singapore, and I continue to add more almost every day. My goal is to describe every street in every town in Malaysia and Singapore.
