Seiyo 西予市, Ehime Prefecture

Seiyo (Japanese: 西予市) is a city on the south-central part of Ehime Prefecture, on the island of Shikoku, Japan. It covers 515 sq km (199 sq mi) and has a population of 42,600 people (2012 estimate). The present boundary dates from 2004, when Seiyo annexed the towns of Akehama, Nomura, Shirokawa, Uwa and Mikame.

Seiyo is renowned for its spring water. This is from the natural spring in the former town of Uwa, which is today part of Seiyo. The water has been recognized as one of the 100 best water sources in Japan by the Ministry of the Environment.

Planning your trip to Seiyo

Seiyo is served by the Yosan Line of the Shikoku Railway between Yawatahama and Uwajima. Stations in Seiyo include Iyo-Iwaki, Kami-Uwa, Unomachi and Shimo-Uwa.
