Tao Island, Lake TobaTao Island, Lake Toba (29 April 2006)

Tao Island (GPS: 2.7632, 98.74209), or Pulo Tao, is a small island to the east of Samosir Island in Lake Toba. It is located close to the village of Simanindo, where Batak cultural shows are performed. I visited Tao Island with a small group of AsiaExplorers members when we were Lake Toba. We stopped over here for just a short visit, on our way to Simanindo.

There is a small resort on Tao Island, a perfect place for people who want to get away to somewhere quiet. Tao Island is labelled as Honeymoon Island, but if I were to honeymoon here, I will go crazy for lack of things to do. It is just a small island that can be explored in half an hour, which is as much time as we spent here.

I saw some broken down chalet with the traditional curved roof. They are in a dilapidated state, so I am not sure where would anybody be staying if they chose to overnight on Tao Island.

About this website

Hello and thanks for reading this page. My name is Timothy and my hobby is in describing places so that I can share the information with the general public. My website has become the go to site for a lot of people including students, teachers, journalists, etc. whenever they seek information on places, particularly those in Malaysia and Singapore. I have been doing this since 5 January 2003, for over twenty years already. You can read about me at Discover Timothy. By now I have compiled information on thousands of places, mostly in Peninsular Malaysia and Singapore, and I continue to add more almost every day. My goal is to describe every street in every town in Malaysia and Singapore.
