photo licensing Kep is a coastal town in Kep Province, Cambodia. The town was established by the French and was originally called Kep-sur-mer. The colonial administrators created a resort for their own use, and today the locals are taking over, redeveloping it for present-day tourists.

Kap is close to the border with Vietnam. Some of the buildings built by the French are still standing, though they appear pretty run down. Kep was the top seaside resort in Cambodia until Sihanoukville surpassed it in the 1960s. Kep still has a long way to develop as a tourist destination.

There are buses to Kep from Phnom Penh. They leave at 7:00 am and 1:00 pm from the Phnom Penh Central Market for US$5 per person.

You can also reach Kep by motorbike taxi from Ha Tien, Vietnam. Expect the 45-minute journey over dirt road to cost you around 100,000+ dong per person.

About this website

Hello and thanks for reading this page. My name is Timothy and my hobby is in describing places so that I can share the information with the general public. My website has become the go to site for a lot of people including students, teachers, journalists, etc. whenever they seek information on places, particularly those in Malaysia and Singapore. I have been doing this since 5 January 2003, for over twenty years already. You can read about me at Discover Timothy. By now I have compiled information on thousands of places, mostly in Peninsular Malaysia and Singapore, and I continue to add more almost every day. My goal is to describe every street in every town in Malaysia and Singapore.
