Ali Ameir Nasi Kandar, Jelutong, Penang (16 February, 2013)
Ali Ameir Nasi Kandar is a new nasi kandar restaurant in Jelutong, Penang. Although the shop is new, the hawker has been selling nasi kandar in Jelutong for a long time. He used to operate the nasi kandar stall at a Chinese coffee shop further down Jalan Jelutong, but moved to its own premises early 2013 when that coffee shop ceased operations.
Even in its new spot, Ali Ameir Nasi Kandar attracts a lot of customers, and people waiting to give their orders often form a long queue in front of the stall. Most of these are people who are ordering takeaways, while in-house customers simply make their order and then proceed to find a place to sit.
Nasi Kandar Ali Ameir (1 June, 2013)
I have been to Ali Ameir Nasi Kandar only once. Not confident that my order would be promptly served if I simply gave it and took a seat, I decided to join the queue until it reaches my turn. My order was politely though swiftly taken and the amount paid only after I have had my meal.
How do I evaluate the taste? It's not bad. I prefer the taste here compared to the other nasi kandar restaurants along the same stretch of Jalan Jelutong. But nevertheless, it isn't the same as the nasi kandar taste that I am accustomed to when growing up. That is something that has become elusive of late. Still, Ali Ameir Nasi Kandar is, as said, not bad.
The nearest bus stop along Jalan Jelutong is served by Rapid Penang bus 301, 302, 303 and 401.
Penang is famous as a street food destination, so I am often asked, what I like to eat. Since this same question is being repeated to me over and over, I decided to create a page to answer it, so that I never have to do it in person ever again!
