1 Persiaran Gurney are two blocks of luxury condominiums along Gurney Drive. It comprises two blocks which are 27 and 31 storeys in height, totalling 198 units on freehold tenure. The condominium was built in 1984, making them one of the earliest luxury high rise in George Town. The units range in size from 1,270 to 1,818 square feet. The estimated selling price is from RM460,000 to RM550,000 while the estimated monthly rental is from RM2,000 to RM5,800. Maintenance fee is RM0.15 per square foot.
They are among the earliest luxury skyscrapers in George Town, and they occupy an equally historic site: 1 Persiaran Gurney condominiums stand on the site that was once occupied by the fabulous bungalow of Kapitan Cina Chung Thye Pin, the last Kapitan Cina of Perak, and son of the equally imminent Kapitan Cina Chung Keng Kwee, who built Hai Kee Chan.
There are a total of 192 units at 1 Persiaran Gurney, with about 4 units to a floor. Each unit occupies an area of between 1,400 to 1,900 square feet. There are also 6 penthouse units with sizes ranging between 5,000 to 6,000 square feet.
Facilities include security services, multi-storey parking, car wash bay, visitor parking, swimming pool, wading pool, gymnasium, sauna, tennis court, squash court, barbeque pit, children's playground, intercom system and landscaping.
Location
1 Persiaran Gurney is approximately 2 km from Magazine Circus. It is one of the prime upmarket locations in the city favoured by top executives and the very wealthy.
Public Transport
If you are staying here, you probably wouldn't need public transport, but your maid would. Rapid Penang Bus 304 pass along Gurney Drive, but not in front of the condominium. Bus 103 and 104 pass through Kelawei Road.
Traffic is slightly lighter than elsewhere along Gurney Drive, as it is at the beginning part of the promenade farthest away from the hotels, shopping venues and food and beverage outlets. Having said that, on the whole, traffic along Gurney Drive is usually quite continuous as the road is narrow.
It is often more practical to book your tours online. You have the luxury of time to go through what are the tours you intend to take, rather than having to make a decision on your feet. Check out the local tours in Penang that you can book online.
